Professor Șerban-Ion Bubenek-Turconi, MD, PhD, FESAIC
Prof. Dr. Șerban-Ion Bubenek-Turconi (graduated in Bucharest) was appointed Assistant Etranger de l'Universite P. & M. Curie Paris in 1993 and Chief 1-st Department of Cardiovascular Anaesthesiology - Intensive Care at the Emergency Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases "Prof. Dr. C. C. Iliescu" Bucharest, Romania, in 1996.
Between 2005-2010 and 2010-2019 he served also as Medical Director and respectively as General Manager of the Emergency Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases "Prof. Dr. C. C. Iliescu" (IUBCV), Bucharest, Romania.
Currently, he is member of the IUBCV Board of Trustees, Chief 1-st Department of Cardiovascular Anaesthesiology - Intensive Care at IUBCV and Professor and Chair of Anaesthesia - Intensive Care at the "Fundeni Clinics Department" of the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy Bucharest. Prof. Bubenek was the promoter of the introduction (in 2009) of the European Diploma in Anaesthesia & Intensive Care (EDAIC) Part I as the only and mandatory written exam to hold the title of anaesthesiologist-intensivist in Romania. He is also the author of the Program for the establishment/endowment/financing of the 5 Anaesthesia and Intensive care Simulation Centers in the largest Romanian universities. Currently, he only supervises from an academic point of view the activity of the Bucharest Simulation Center in Anesthesia and Intensive Care (CESIMAB) which operates independently.
Prof. Bubenek was is a former member of the Board of Directors and NASC Chairman of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC) (2018-2021).
In 2023, the ESAIC nominated Prof. Bubenek as an ESAIC Honorary Member and he was also awarded with the very prestigious title of Fellow of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (FESAIC).
He also served 3 mandates as an ESAIC Council member and currently he is a NASC member representing Romania.
He has been selected as Examiner for the European Diploma in Anaesthesia - Intensive Care Part II.
Since May 2018 Prof. Bubenek is the President of the Romanian Society of Anaesthesia - Intensive Care (SRATI).
Visiting Professor of University of Tel Aviv – Sackler Faculty of Medicine and Associate Professor of "Nicolae Testemițeanu" University of Medicine of Chișinău, Republic of Moldova.
Publishing / research: 27 books, 151 articles, 18 research grants (8 Project Manager-Director), more than 320 conferences and lectures (Romania, Israel, France, Spain, Serbia, Italy, United Kingdom, Georgia, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Moldova, Bulgaria) etc.
His main research, expertise and interest fields are: anaesthesia and perioperative care in cardiovascular surgery, infections in ICU, hemodynamic monitoring, acute cardiac failure syndromes, extra-corporeal life support techniques (IABP, ECMO, Impella, LVAD) and ARDS.
Prof. Bubenek is the Vice-President of the Advisory Commission for Anaesthesia - Intensive Care of the Romanian Ministry of Health and he also served as Honorary Adviser to the Minister of Health (2009, 2018-2019, 2020-2021).
In 2019, Bucharest City Hall declared him an Honorary Citizen of Bucharest.
In December 2022, he received the "Prof. Ștefan Nicolau" Prize of the Romanian Academy for the chapter: "Intensive Care for the patient with COVID-19 disease" from the monograph "Pandemic COVID-19 in Romania".
Decorated in 2009 by the President of Romania with the: "National Order of Merit in the rank of Chevalier".

Cosmin Bălan, MD, PhD
Dr. Bălan is an Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine consultant at the Emergency Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases "Prof. Dr. C.C. Iliescu" in Bucharest. He has been coordinating CESIMAB since 2019. Dr. Bălan holds the European Diploma in Intensive Care (EDIC) and is also an examiner for EDIC Part II. He has a national attestation in transthoracic echocardiography and is certified in FICE and CUSIC, both UK-based certifications. Since 2019, he has also been the co-coordinator of CESIMUS, a national workshop focused on critically ill ultrasonography.
Lavinia Brezeanu, MD, PhD

Assistant Professor in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at the Fundeni Clinical Institute in Bucharest, Romania, with a Ph.D. focusing on the research topic of Hemodynamic Management in Liver Transplantation. Certified in Part I of the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care since 2017. Member of both the Romanian Society of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care and the European Society of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care. Special interests include anaesthesiology in liver transplantation, hemodynamic monitoring, and the management of critically ill patients.

Ana Maria Morar, MD
Ana Maria Morar is a specialist doctor in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at the Emergency Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases "Prof Dr. CC Iliescu," Bucharest. Ana worked for one year in Paris at Louis Mourier Hospital and six months at Bichat-Claude Bernard Hospital. She attended the transthoracic echocardiography courses of the Cardiology Clinic of the Emergency Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases "Prof. Dr. CC Iliescu", Bucharest.
Bianca Moroșanu, MD

Bianca Moroșanu is an Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine specialist at Emergency Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases" Prof. Dr. C.C. Iliescu," Bucharest. She is pursuing a Ph.D. at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, where she works as an Assistant Professor.
Her current areas of interest include cardiac intensive care, critical care ultrasound, and medical education.
In addition to her work as a clinician, Dr. Moroșanu has also been actively involved in medical simulation training.
As a member of CESIMAB, she believes in the importance of simulation in medical education and has dedicated herself to sharing her knowledge and experience with others.
Mihai Popescu, MD, PhD

Mihai Popescu, MD, PhD, DESA, Associate Professor Anaesthesia and Critical Care at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, works in Fundeni Clinical Institute and is an International Examiner for EDAIC and has a MSc in Regional Anaesthesia - University of East Anglia, UK.
Cornelia-Elena Predoi, MD
Specialist doctor in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Unit (2020), assistant professor (2022), Ph.D. student (2021), DESAIC (2020). Cornelia-Elena Predoi works in the Emergency Institute of Cardiovascular diseases "Prof. Dr. CC Iliescu," ATI II Clinic. She worked for one year at Bichat Hospital in Paris, France. She attended the transthoracic echocardiography courses of the Cardiology Clinic of the Emergency Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases "Prof Dr. CC Iliescu" and is also involved in the SAFETY project.
Cornel Robu, MD
Dr. Robu is an Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine specialist doctor at the Emergency Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases "Prof. Dr. C. C. Iliescu", Bucharest. He holds part I of the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (EDAIC).
Ecaterina Scărlătescu, MD, PhD

Ecaterina Scărlătescu is a lecturer at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Carol Davila" and a Consultant in the 3rd Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at Fundeni Clinical Institute, Bucharest. She had a Fellowship from the International Society on Haemostasis and Thrombosis, trained at Maastricht University Medical Centre in Maastricht, and is currently the Chair of the DIC Subcommittee of ISTH. In 2022 she obtained the title of Master of Science after graduating from the University course in Patient Blood Management at Danube-University of Krems, Austria.
Mihai Ștefan, MD
Dr. Mihai Ștefan, MD serves as a cardiac anesthesiologist at the Emergency Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases "Prof. Dr. C.C. Iliescu" in Bucharest and as a medical simulation educator at CESIMAB. He holds the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (EDAIC) and is an International Examiner for EDAIC Part II. Since 2015, he has been the secretary for a national initiative group focused on Patient Blood Management. His research interests include haemostasis and transfusion, extracorporeal device therapy, education through simulation, and intensive care medicine.
Liana Văleanu, MD, PhD

Liana Văleanu is an anaesthesia and intensive care consultant at the C.C. Iliescu Emergency Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases in Bucharest, Romania. She holds the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (EDAIC) and is an International Examiner for EDAIC Part II. Liana earned her Ph.D. in medical sciences from Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania. She also has diplomas in echocardiography and extracorporeal life support from Pierre and Marie Curie Sorbonne University in Paris, France.
